My prejudice against biological SFs

(Someone please save me from this prejudice, I am holding it most unwillingly.)
I have this prejudice that, SFs with biological themes are no more than fantasies about a world with bizarre monsters and horror. These monsters come from genetic mutation or manipulation, which is the only thing that makes the story a Science Fiction.  An example that follows this pattern "Jurassic Park".

"Dreamsnake" by Vonda N. McIntyre seems to be a biological SF book without the monsters and horrors. Can't say for sure 'cause I haven't read it.
