Shyness and rudeness

similarity between shyness and rudeness- inability to properly initialize a civilized communication.
shyness is the passive form. the expressions include ignoring, looking away, pretending not seeing....

rudeness is the aggressive form. the expressions include knocking into people without saying sorry, taking favors from stranger without saying thank you....

both are some symptom of lacking civility or education. both are result of being provincial or barbarian....
(am I too critical!?)

BBC: Secrete Scientists

BBC Documentary

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/documentaries/2009/04/090414_secret_scientists.shtml

Then I start to wonder whether we a living in a civilized time or are we actually living in a most barbarian time in history. We are so ignorant and still letting prejudice take control!

By the way, the philosopher in the scientific method class was so Euro-centric or Greek-centric that he tried to make everyone else to repel anything Oriental including Chinese ones.

Some strange thoughts

I am going nut doing some statistics homework which involves particle physics.

Suddenly, I realized this:
1. The drawings, and the works that I do, they are just my decay particles.
2. My decay process happens right after my production (birth), and last for my lifetime.
3. I, myself is a decay product of my parents.

How to get sand for my tulips in the heavily-snowy winter

First make sure that there is not naked earth surface available nearby.

1. Wait for it to get dark, so that no one can see me.
2. Get ready the tools, empty pot for the sand, a large bin of hot water, and spoon.
3. Go to the snow-covered volleyball playground, and pour hot water there.
4. When the snow and ice melts and sand shows up, dig it with spoon and put it into the sand pot.
5. Leave the "crime scene" as soon as possible.

Naming system

Chinese naming system: continuous, theoretically any combination of "kanji"s
Western naming system: quantized, jumps from Ann to Anna and not to Annb, from Katrin to Catherine...

This is just absurd theory!

Sneeze

Do people in different countries sneeze in different languages?

In Japan: "haxion!", and sometimes very literally "haxion!"
In China: "Ahti-!" "Ahchiu!"

Weekend after party

It is fantastic to find so many youngsters studying in the lab on weekends. On the surface they are so much into parties, discos and clubs, but beneath that, they all want to work hard for their own good. The different thing here is that teachers try really hard to instruct and students try really hard to understand. They discuss with their peers when there is anything not comprehensive, they would know that they are not the only ones that doesn't understand it, so they go to ask the teacher. Or if sometimes they are the only ones that couldn't understand, they go to ask teacher as well! It is always the teacher's fault when the students don't understand, quite the contrary to the Japanese system where they always blame students for not studying hard. Here in Sweden, if you as an instructor couldn't make your point understood, you can never get away from it, at least not easily!

And you know what? I just learned during the past two weeks in an undergraduate course, something that puzzled me for 2 years in graduate school in Japan! What a shame, I kind of wish that I was never in Japan to study! What a horrible waste of time! What a brain damage!

Miss Heath Ledger

Really wish that he didn't work so hard!
-that he worked himself to stressful life and death.
Wish he lived longer.
- Bet he wished the same thing!
Maybe he didn't know he's dead
and he is flying around looking at us.
